The Samsung T7 can also be operated without encryption. The encryption can be activated or deactivated with the supplied software. Initially, I used the T7 in the pre-formatted version. Later I reformatted it to AFPS so that I could use it for Time Machine backups. The encryption still worked without any problems after reformatting, i.e. with both password and fingerprint.

I back up all my mobile phone data regularly, including photos. First on the laptop. From there, I transfer it to two external SSDs, along with the rest of the laptop's data. After all, an SSD can break. Even within the warranty period. Or it can break through one's own fault. The quality of the photos is not damaged. Copying is done 1:1.
I don't know how many years the photos and data on an SSD will remain undamaged. But a Digitec technician can certainly help.

Read this article, it says it there. PS4 works anyway - on the Samsung thing it also says big and clear: GAMING READY
It also says:
"On the Playstation 5, you can currently install PS4 games on an external SSD, but not PS5 games. So you don't have to give up your existing game collection when new games come out, but can store them on the T7 Touch - leaving more space for new games on the Playstation 5".
PS: If you can google, you have a clear advantage ;-)
