My problem is when I plug the thing into the socket the thing flashes red in the description it says when the red light flashes it does not recognise the device. I have a samsung s8+.

Hmm! So for me, when I leave my iPhone X on it, it flashes red all the time (LED at the base) and it charges normally! Does your S8 recognise that it is charging or does it just flash and S8 does not charge?

Inductive charging works with Samsung devices, it works fine with my S8+.

The iPhone 6 has no wireless charging option (without a special case). Unless you have such a case, this charging station won't do you much good.

Yes, the iPhone X is charged - but not with the full possible speed of 10W, as Apple does not support this. With an upcoming update, 7.5W should be enabled (currently charging at 5W). Greetings
