The Philips Hue Tap Dial switch can be used without the wall mount as it is wireless and requires no installation. You can simply hold it in your hand or place it in another convenient location to control your lights.
No, you need a hub that is Zigbee-capable to connect the Dial Tab. This does not necessarily have to be a Philips Hue Bridge, some internet routers have also become Zigbee-capable and can be used for this purpose.
You can control up to three rooms or zones with the buttons on the Tap Dial Switch, but it is not directly possible to control individual lamps without controlling the entire room. The buttons are designed to change scenes or light states in a room or zone. If you want to control individual lamps across multiple rooms, you need to set this up via the Philips Hue app by assigning specific lamps to a scene or room.
Yes, you can assign a different room to each button. Each button on the Tap Dial Switch can be cycled through different scenes and can control a separate room or zone. The rotary control dims or brightens a room or zone.
Switching is possible, I have also configured it this way. And a long press is then off again, in my case, for example. What doesn't work, however, is that you can only dim the last group, for example, when turning, but only one or virtually all selected groups at once.
Correct
Pressing button 1 switches the stored lamps on and you can dim them.
Pressing and holding button 1 switches the respective lamps off again.
Do the same with the other 3 buttons.
Unfortunately, the variant with the mini mount is not available through us. This is exclusively offered for sale to customers by the manufacturer and not via retailers. I am very sorry.
I tried 10 times without it and it just didn't work.
After connecting to the bridge, there was a new dysein on the app and then I could set it up. about 1 month ago
Hello, the Hue app should have the latest software update. To set it up, press and hold the button with a dot or the first button of the Tap dail for at least 3 seconds. If this does not work, press and hold for 10 seconds. When the LED flashes between the keys, the search can be started under Accessories in the app. Be sure to wait at least 30 seconds, even if the tap dail has been found. After adding the tap dail, do not make any changes to the assignment for the time being. This is because a software update will certainly be necessary at first. Here is an example video:

The Philips Hue Tap Dial Switch cannot be used directly via Bluetooth with the Hue app and Philips Hue Play devices without the Hue Bridge. Here are the key points:
- The Tap Dial Switch uses the Zigbee Light Link wireless protocol, which requires a connection to the Hue Bridge to control the Philips Hue lights.
- Without the Hue Bridge, the functions of the Tap Dial Switch cannot be fully utilised, especially when it comes to remote control and management of more than 10 lights.
- The Hue Bridge is necessary to enable the full functionality of the Tap Dial Switch, including remote control and integration with other Philips Hue devices.
I have already set many things with Hue. However, the normal Hue app is somewhat limited, for complex scenes it is better to use the All4hue app.
As I know the Hue App, the lamps must all be in the same room. Scenes are only possible per room.
If the two lamps stay on instead of going off, the scene has probably been saved incorrectly.
When creating a scene, make sure that the switched-off lamps are also included in the scene.
This way the status is saved correctly. E.g.
One lamp green
3 lamps off
First test the scenes on the smartphone. Only when they work properly there, set them on the switch. Try it 😃
