Questions about Microsoft Surface USB-C Travel Hub for business

I have a Surface Book 3 and no USB-C charger powerful enough to charge my SB3, but I can tell you this: When I plug a phone charger directly into the USB-C of the SB3, I get a message that the device is NOT charging, When I plug a phone charger into the travel dock, that message does NOT come up. So it doesn't look like charging via the travel dock is possible. In general, I would rather trust the information from the manufacturer than the information in online shops ...

The USB port on surface pro 5th gen supports only up to 5 Gbps while the type C one on surface pro 7 and the new devices supports up to 10 Gbps. I don't have a surface pro 5 to test what works, but I would recommend looking for a port that is designed for a 5 Gbps connection.

I think it will also work with the Dell XPS 13. It also works with my sister's Macbook.

If an HDMI port or a VGA port is needed, the hub is also suitable for use at home (but you *can't* use HDMI and VGA together). The hub also has no power supply, so you *can't* charge the battery through the hub.

The travel hub can be connected to the Surface Pro 7 (tablet) via the C-connector (perhaps I don't quite understand the question - where else?) - Type Cover has no outputs. But it works perfectly - good product, small, light and works great!
