Yes, the mouse has an on/off switch on the underside. This allows you to switch the mouse off manually so that it does not switch on automatically when it is moved in a bag, for example. Without this switch, the mouse would switch on when moved, but there is a switch here to prevent this.

I found the term silent in M650. You definitely do NOT hear the mouse when using it! Hope this helps.
