In principle, the USB adapter is only used if your computer does not have Bluetooth integrated. The USB adapter is not necessary for use via Bluetooth. This is also not a Bluetooth adapter, but uses wireless 2.4GHz technology.
I had the same problem (PC and Mac). The only solution - until now - was to operate the mouse on the Mac via the things and on the PC via the normal Bluetooth connection. That way it works perfectly for me.

The mouse is wireless as in the product name. You can use the mouse either with Bluetooth or via the USB port with a wireless receiver, which is also included.
Hello. I had the same reaction, the price is very variable. On the Logitech site it says "No Longer Available", from which I deduce that the successor is the M650 model, also silent and 2 devices (Dongle + Bluetooth). Another interesting model is the Lenovo Go Wireless Multi-Device, a little more expensive but with 3 devices (Dongle + 2 x Bluetooth), but be careful: the function keys can only be programmed in "Dongle" mode, they don't work in "Bluetooth" mode, whereas the Logitech works independently of the mode.
To use the mouse on two computers with Flow Multi-Device (i.e. the mouse automatically switches computers when the cursor reaches the side of the screen), Logitech software must be installed on both computers and both computers must be connected to the same wifi. However, the mouse has two bluetooth channels. You can therefore switch from one device to the other by clicking a button on the top of the mouse without having to install any software. This is less convenient, however, as the mouse sometimes doesn't connect very well at start-up, depending on the bluetooth receivers...
