According to our information, power delivery with pass-through is only supported on the USB-C port located on the side with the power button. The second port supports signal input but does not pass power back to the connected device.

I had the same thought, as I would also connect the display to a Raspberry Pi, for example, but this only offers (micro)HDMI. You would need an adapter that outputs DP or HDMI together with power from USB to USB-C.
