Either via USB, or with USB receiver for wireless desktop (included with wireless keyboard/mouse); or if the laptop has Bluetooth (which is often the case), then it is coupled directly with it (dock doesn't matter).

On the off chance I did buy this docking station and I can confirm that both display port connections have the DP++ logo. I am now successfully running two HDMI monitors with one HDMI and one passive DP-to-HDMI cable.
There are hardly any decent pictures of the side with the connectors on the net, which makes this pointless guesswork necessary.
