The item is called "HP DisplayPort to Dual Link (DVI, 15cm)", but the description says "... Single Link DVI port ...". Can this adapter now pass on a signal as Dual Link DVI-D?

Hello I bought this part because my screen at the time did not have a displayport and with this adapter you can plug the vga from the screen into the adapter and then plug it into the graphics card as a displayport so to speak it converts the vga to displayport.but now I have a new screen so I don't need it anymore.
