Hisense PL1SE

First of all: - I have been using the projector for almost 2 years and am very satisfied. - The current price of 1080.- is excellent; I paid just under 1500.-. - The projector is quiet; you can hear the fan slightly, but you soon get used to it. However, the fan is quieter than on other models. - For me, there is definitely no going back to a normal TV set. With the large picture, you are simply much more "involved". - As far as the picture size is concerned, I would recommend taping the surface on the wall in advance. Because it can also be too big. The advantage of the Hisense PL1SE is that you can move it closer to the wall to reduce the size of the picture. Also note the lower distance to the floor with projectors; the image only starts about 35-40cm above the floor due to the projection angle. Unlike TV sets, the number of inches (e.g. 100") is not the diagonal, but the width (so the diagonal is slightly larger again). Pythagoras is your friend). To your question: - Keep in mind that if you don't use a canvas, the texture of the wall will remain with the picture. So if you have a textured wall, the image would also be textured because the image is projected onto the wall. - You could use the projector without a screen if the wall is very flat/smooth. But projecting onto a screen is worlds better! I use an electronically retractable screen from VividStorm, but it can also be a normal, fixed screen. Note that there are also special screens for ultra-short distance (I think they are called "ALR"), which also block sunlight from the image. - BlackFriday is approaching if you want to buy a screen later. Time is your friend. :-)

Yes, the projector can also be operated "overhead", i.e. mounted upside down on the ceiling. This is common with ultra-short throw projectors such as this one, although the exact mounting instructions and ceiling bracket are available separately. The image alignment and geometry correction can be adjusted by remote control, which supports flexible installation, even on the ceiling.

You cannot watch Blue TV from Swisscom directly on your projector, as it is a projection device that does not offer integrated app support for Blue TV. However, you can watch Blue TV on an external device such as a smartphone, tablet or Smart TV and then transfer the image to the projector via HDMI.

Unfortunately, our supplier has not yet made us an offer, but we will receive a price list in the next few weeks. It may then be available next month.
The Hisense PL1 has a built-in triple tuner (for TV reception via cable), the PL1SE (TV reception via Internet) does not.
I have been using the projector for just over half a year and am very happy with it. In my search and comparison of around two dozen projectors, I finally decided in favour of the PL1SE because the operating volume was also one of the main factors for me. The PL1SE's fan is of course a little audible, but you quickly get used to it and it's definitely not annoying, although I'm very sensitive to noise myself, and the db volume is one of the lowest of the ultra-short throw projectors. There is also no beeping, as with other projectors. Furthermore, the projector has an intermediate image calculation (e.g. for sporting events) and there is no chromatic aberration to complain about. Furthermore, the projector can be used variably for 100-120" projection width, whereas other projectors have a fixed focal length. I recommend checking the manufacturer's specifications and taping the projection surface on the wall to see if you feel comfortable with it. Above all, you should also look at the bottom edge, i.e. the minimum distance from the screen to the floor before the image begins. This is mainly about a comfortable viewing angle from the sofa. I also recommend using an AppleTV. The Vidaa operating system is okay, but with the AppleTV everything runs a little more smoothly and is clearer. All the usual apps (Netflix, Sky, NBA, Disney, Paramount, YouTube etc.) are available. If you are interested, I can also recommend the electrically retractable floor screens from vividstormscreen (dot com, model "S Pro"). A return to a normal TV is no longer a topic for me since using the projector.
