I use the adapter on a CANON EOS 80D. In addition, I use a "C1 cable" (mini jack) on the remote trigger port and connect it to the receiver on the hot shoe and the radio transmitter is then in my hand. Dear Messdo4175, within the radius of the transmitter it doesn't matter where you stand, in front of or behind the camera. Unfortunately, sometimes the set goes off and you have to re-pair it, so my advice is to always have the wired trigger with you as a spare.
