The sensors use ANT/ANT+ for transmission. Bluetooth is not supported.
I use a Fenix 5 and Garmin Connect. Garmin Connect sends the data to Strava.

Yes, the sensors also work on the roller. However, the speed sensor makes absolutely no sense on the roller, because the wheel revolutions are higher on the roller and offer no reference to the reality on the road. However, I am not familiar with the Fenix5, but I cannot imagine that it should not work with this watch.
