I've been using the machine for two years. It's normal that you have to heat it up for a few minutes to get a good espresso. I switch it on and after a few minutes I let out an espresso cup of water so that the portafilter comes into contact with hot water and the stale tap water is gone. After 5-10 minutes, remove the portafilter and rinse again with hot water from the machine in case there is any residue on the brew head. For a simple espresso, the machine is ready after 5 minutes or less (control light), but to ensure that the portafilter is also nice and hot, it takes longer. For the perfect espresso, everything must be hot and the colour should be nut-brown. Ideally, it should run down thinly like two "mouse tails". That's why a good grinder is also important.

The distance for the cup is 7cm. Tests in the past have shown that the machine does not work with all pads. The Garibaldi pads with a diameter of 6cm and a weight of 7g work well. You can go by these specifications and may need to try a different type. A different sieve is not available from the manufacturer.

Moin! Per se, portafilter machines are not as suitable for 'long drinks' as, for example, a fully automatic machine, because the height of the cakes is lower. Apart from that, you can of course make a super Americano or even let the espresso run longer. In my experience, however, it tastes different from a café crème from a fully automatic machine, for example. But I also do this regularly with the New Gaggia Classic and I'm satisfied, but as we all know, tastes differ. But the strengths definitely lie in the espresso ;-).

The New Classic is the good old Gaggia Classic again, before production was moved to Romania. Differences: * Professional steam lance * Made in Italy * Has a 3-way solenoid valve again See also: http://101coffeemachines.info/gaggia/new-classic-pro/ and https://coffeeblog.co.uk/gaggia-classic-2018-19-review/

Hello Yes, the machine can handle ESE coffee pods. See the operating instructions on page 24: https://www.gaggia.com/wp-content/uploads//2018/10/DFU_NClassic_Rev01.pdf You have to use the 1-cup sieve for this. However, I have never tried this personally, so I can't say anything more about it.
