No colour cartridges are needed. Similar to the old Polaroid, the film is exposed and then develops the image within a few minutes. The photos are not printed, even though the function is called 'print'. Unlike Polaroid, the pictures are taken digitally, stored internally and can be edited to a limited extent before they are exposed on the film.
