I am currently using the dual mount with a Wide 5k 34 inch and two 32 inch 4k. It's super stable and no wobbling despite asymmetrical monitor placement. I feel that the tilt angle is sufficient so that the upper monitor looks down sufficiently. As far as I know, you can't get the arms individually, not even directly from the manufacturer. So in order to have four arms, you have to buy two duals anyway. At least, that's the status from about 1.5 years ago. I asked the manufacturer directly. I find it unfavourable to hang a curved over a flat. The protruding corners of the monitor would visually disturb the overall picture. I think the Curve below and the flat above are sympathetic.

I'm not aware of the availability of a shorter arm for the Ergotron monitor mounts. Having said that, my experience in case it helps is that: I find the design of the arms allows me to position the screens to fit my needs, further back on the desk than a foot stand would allow, and also clearing up desk clutter and freeing up desk space. I do need to leave about 30cm space behind the desk (distance from the wall) to allow the arms to be folded and positioned so that the laptop monitor holder is effectively immediately next to the vertical. Also, for the large monitor to be in the middle of my desk and in front of me (rather than to my left, which would then require an angled sitting and typing position to the desk - bad ergonomics, body strain, sore neck, shoulders etc.), I also need to position the vertical pole about 45cm to the right of where I wish to place the monitor. For my needs, I'm quite happy with the setup. I am considering trying to integrate another arm onto the vertical pole for my second laptop, as my setup involves: 1 large monitor directly in front of me on the left of the pole, shared with two laptops with screens open to the right of the pole (work laptop one on the desk, personal laptop on the Ergotron notebook arm).

The black plate that goes directly down the back of the table top protrudes about 8.5 cm downwards. The two fixing screws, which are under the table, are about 8 cm high.
