Does anyone know if this block fits well together with the stock backplate of the AMD reference models or should I better buy the corresponding EKWB plate?

I recommend that you carefully check the compatibility between EWKB blocks and the specific graphics card. Unfortunately, the construction of graphics cards is different for different manufacturers, even if it is the same basic model.

According to my research, this water block does not include a backplate. EKWB recommends using one though, for example this one: EKWB EK-Quantum Vector RX 6800/6900 Backplate
