A 78 mm wide smartphone fits on the gimbal, as it is designed for devices with a width of 67 to 84 mm. The 17MAXpro with a width of 78 mm is therefore within the compatible range. The gimbal supports smartphones with a width of 67 to 84 mm, a thickness of 6.9 to 10 mm and a weight of 170 to 300 g.

The DJI gimbal is also suitable for filming moving animals or objects as it features ActiveTrack 7.0 technology, which enables intelligent tracking. This allows you to mark a subject, such as a horse, in the DJI Mimo app and the gimbal will automatically follow it and stabilise the shot. The tracking can also be maintained while zooming, which is advantageous for dynamic shots while riding. However, it should be noted that although tracking works very well with the multifunction module and ActiveTrack, the battery life is reduced to around five hours. Tracking is most effective in the DJI Mimo app, where you can also manually frame the subject and adjust the image composition. To summarise: The DJI Gimbal is suitable for filming horses while riding and offers intelligent, stable tracking that is comparable to the Insta360, provided you use the ActiveTrack function in the app.

I first had to see what grappling is :-) You have to "learn the ropes" a bit to operate the gimbal. I use the device to record training with my dog using my Samsung S24. I can use the app to focus either on me or on my dog and then set a follow. Sometimes when you turn away completely or, for example, out of sight (when I'm training outside and disappear behind a tree), he "loses" the follow, but on the whole it works very well and follows the movement.

The gimbal is compatible with the Samsung Galaxy A53, as this model is officially supported by DJI for the Osmo Mobile 7 series. The Oppo Find X5 is also compatible with the Osmo Mobile 7 series, as Oppo smartphones are generally supported and the dimensions and weight of the devices fall within the range required by the gimbal. It is important that the smartphone weighs between 170 and 300 grams and has a thickness of 6.9 to 10 mm and a width of 67 to 84 mm so that it fits into the magnetic holder. If the smartphone does not fit directly into the holder, the DJI OM Magnetic Quick-Release Mount can be used as an alternative.
