This adapter is an HDMI output device. It allows you to connect a monitor, TV, or projector to a laptop or other device with a USB-C port, but it does not enable using the laptop as a monitor.
To clarify, the adapter converts the USB-C signal from your laptop into an HDMI signal to display on an external device, not the other way around. Therefore, it will not work to use a laptop as a monitor through the USB-C port with this adapter.
Dear Nurax, I can certainly connect my laptop to the TV. The question is whether your tablet's graphics card is powerful enough to send enough data for a good picture. I don't know that.
The Galaxy A7 does not have a USB-C port, but microUSB. And unfortunately it doesn't support MHL (for microUSB to HDMI), so as far as I know the only way to get a picture from the smartphone to a screen is via screencasting (via WLAN).
I use the adapter to connect the laptop to the beamer - so the signal is sent in the other direction. But there is nothing to say that it should not work in one case...
The mac mini (2018) have a native HDMI 2.0 connector. But if you need additionnal connection, this adaptor is ok (mac mini have multiple USB-C connectors)
