Good day Booting over an M2 SSD via PCIE adapter works. However, I would advise against this, as the data transfer may be impaired and on the other hand the SSD then runs over the CPU lines and thus the CPU is impaired as you need more lines than the CPU has available. It is better to leave the M2 SSD connected directly via the mainboard.
