I have an Adata m.2 xpg sx8200 pro ssd, currently plugged into the m.2 slot in the mainboard. Question: Can I still boot from this ssd if I plug it into a pcie slot with such an adapter? My mainboard: Gigabyte z97x Gaming 7. latest bios (F8)

Hi :-) Well, the booting even worked as Plug & Play, I wouldn't have expected that. And the performance has improved by factors, from Read 826.1mb and Write 786.0mb to Read 2566.2mb & write 1135.6mb. I did another gpu benchmark with Crysis Vanilla to see if the 8 missing lanes really matter: all on highest setting =138fps, with Graka RX580. The SSD stayed at 40°C after 30min. of gaming. I actually wanted to test with Doom but currently steam won't let me log in. I think it's a complete success :-) But I used the kryoM.2 PCIe 3.0x4 adapter and not the Delock.
Greetings and have a nice weekend :-)

Good day
Booting over an M2 SSD via PCIE adapter works. However, I would advise against this, as the data transfer may be impaired and on the other hand the SSD then runs over the CPU lines and thus the CPU is impaired as you need more lines than the CPU has available. It is better to leave the M2 SSD connected directly via the mainboard.
