I am using the device with Fixer7-X and upgraded from Fiber7. The optics of SFP and SFP+ modules are different, so this converter is not expected to work with the previous optics when you switch to Fiber7-X. I got the following module from FS.COM: "SFP+ Transceiver Modul mit DOM - Generisch Kompatibel 10GBASE-BX BiDi SFP+ 1270nm-TX/1330nm-RX 10km DOM Simplex LC SMF" and I can confirm that this one works fine with Fiber7-X.
I ordered mine directly from Init7. 99 for module and fibre cable. From the Flexoptix brand. You can also order directly from Flexoptix. Just tell Init7 or Flexoptix that you want to use it in this media converter. Some of these things have to be pre-programmed for compatibility.
So this media converter only works with 10GBps transceivers. You need one of these to convert the light from the optical fibre into an RJ45 signal. As far as I know, the UDM Pro also has two slots, which would make this media converter superfluous. However, beware that Sunrise may use XGSPON, which many routers do not support. You'll have to check with Sunrise, if they give out such information at all. I am currently using this media converter with Fiber7-X (i.e. 10GBps) with a transceiver that I ordered from init7 with a QHora 301W, and it works wonderfully. But a UDM Pro should make this box superfluous.
I also have the converter and a duplex module is used. SFP+ works with duplex or simplex. With simplex, one glass strand is needed for the data flow in one direction and the other for the data flow in the other direction. With duplex, the data flow is in one glass strand in both directions. What do you want to use the converter for? It could work, but your ASUS router does not support the settings which are needed for the WAN Port, as far as I can tell. DHCP Option 60 set to 100008,0001 and VLAN ID 10. It seems the Asus router is not capable of supporting fiber ISP connections. Ask Asus.
