Is this compatible with a Samsung 980 Pro M2.0 NVME SSD for in a Mac Pro 2010?

Has anyone managed to boot from an NVMe SSD using this adapter? I can only access an SSD installed on it when Windows is already loaded, and only if I have installed a driver (which is not included with this product!)...

The driver is integrated in Windows 10, it should not be necessary to install a special driver. It is mandatory that UEFI is activated in the BIOS and CSM is possibly completely deactivated so that booting from NVMe works. I recommend doing a BIOS update first, otherwise you might be fighting with UEFI teething problems that have long since been fixed. If it doesn't work, just write again.

The product description says it doesn't need drivers, but I can't boot from it and Windows doesn't recognise the device! Does anyone have a solution?

Is there any good trick how to open the supplied screw thread to mount it on the board in the hole?

The groove of the screw thread goes into the half eyelet of the storage bolt, then it is screwed on from behind. The screw may be missing That was the case with me, but I still had my own screws.
