Is directly compatible. I was able to start with an i5-14600KF and flash the BIOS without any problems. I was supplied with a board with BIOS 0812.

Usually, for a desktop installation without overclocking, even of the gaming type, the z790 chip is just an unnecessary complication. It is fine if you plan to engage in extreme overclocks, but it should be combined with 'k' or 'KF' processors and rtx **80 or higher video cards. It may come in handy if you want to build a home server. But in that case it would be better to spend the difference on a product with remote management (kvm over IP)
