I'm thinking of buying the motherboard, but I'm wondering what the difference is between the B760 and Z790 chipset, are there any "groundbreaking" differences that make it worth buying a motherboard with Z790?
Usually, for a desktop installation without overclocking, even of the gaming type, the z790 chip is just an unnecessary complication. It is fine if you plan to engage in extreme overclocks, but it should be combined with 'k' or 'KF' processors and rtx **80 or higher video cards. It may come in handy if you want to build a home server. But in that case it would be better to spend the difference on a product with remote management (kvm over IP)
The biggest difference is in the lines provided by the chipset, and more generally all the connectivity that depends on the chipset (number of USB ports, SATA ports...).
28 PCIe lines for the Z790 compared with 14 for the B760.
