this card is just good enought to handle todays game (Fallout 4, GTA V) in good graphics. BUT if you wanna be safe for the next two years, I would go for GTX980 (pricey!). If you don't wanna spend that much money, just wait 2-3 month, I think NVIDIA will release a new card soon -> 980 gets affordable.
To sum up: Yes, it's a good choice for an occasional gamer. (provided that the specs match to your Mobo, I didn't check that)
