It is possible, but the question is to what extent it makes sense. Officially, PCIe is compatible in all versions up and down. Since the mainboard only supports PCIe 2.0, data is accordingly exchanged on this standard.

I would rather recommend using a stick, as it is much more flexible than a card and can also be placed elsewhere with a USB extension cable if necessary.
