Both pencils have the same functions.
As a company, we work closely with various suppliers to offer our customers the best possible price. The price difference here is because we source the pencils from two different suppliers.
There are two adapters included. Both connect the pen to a charging cable. One for Lightning to Lightning, one for USB-C to Lightning. In each case socket to socket. Charging directly on the iPad is only possible with the Lightning socket. I haven't tried out whether you can charge the stylus on the iPad with the USB-C to USB-C charging cable and the adapter, as I still have a 9th generation device.
With each iPad, you have to read up on which pens work with it. And I can only recommend the combination of Apple Pen with Apple iPad. It's a well-rounded solution. You can find an overview (a little further down) here:

I quote here an answer from the official Apple website:
"Does the Apple Pencil work on the IPad 9.7 2017?"
"No, use only works on the Pro series IPads, as well as the 2018 IPad."
https://www.apple.com/ch-de/shop/question/answers/product/MK0C2ZM/A/funktioniert-der-apple-pencil-auf-dem-ipad-97-2017/QYTD9PHT97TP9XAKH
As it stands, the Apple Pencil does not work with the "normal" 2017 IPads. If you have an IPad Pro it should basically work.
Hope I could help you!
no, only from ipad 6th gen. Still a great iPad though. I have one with ios 13 and it runs like a charm. Catalina's sidecar mode (ipad as mac's second screen) won't work either, only those ipads with apple pencil support will work with sidecar :-(
This is the 1st generation Pencil, which has a Lightning connector and according to the manufacturer site, is not compatible with the new iPad Pro.
You find the 2nd generation Pencil here, which by the way charges wirelessly directly from your iPad and has no additional connector: Apple Pencil (2. Generation)
It does not work in calendar or HD weekcal. It can be used as a stylus, but does not handle handwritten input. There may be a calendar app that manages this, but I don't know of one.
