If I no longer have the charging adapter do I have to buy a new Pencil or can I just have the adapter?

I didn't find the adapter on the Apple website, but you can charge the Penci directly on the iPad without an adapter.

Get a genius appointment at an official Apple Store - and they can supply as replacement units the little pesky adapters - for 10.- a piece. I did this once.
