Product details

The MPR121 is a microchip that can evaluate up to 12 capacitive electrodes. The breakout board connects to your Arduino via the I2C bus. Thanks to I2C, no complex wiring is necessary, and controlling it is very straightforward with the appropriate library. The MPR121 can be addressed via the address pin, which means you can operate up to 8 MPR121 breakout boards on a single I2C bus. This allows you to read and evaluate 4x12, or 48 electrodes in total. You can use conductive materials as electrodes or even organic materials that are slightly conductive, such as fruits and vegetables. I often use copper tape as well. You can stick it on the back of a piece of paper, and when you touch the paper from the other side, that touch can be detected.
