With this capacitive soil moisture sensor, you can easily measure the moisture of plants and determine when they need to be watered. The sensor features a built-in amplifier, allowing it to be connected directly to an analog input of an Arduino. The measuring probe is inserted into the soil and measures the capacitance of the earth, which changes with moisture levels. This capacitive soil moisture sensor does not suffer from wear or corrosion like a conventional soil moisture sensor. You can find a programming example for reading an analog sensor in the Arduino IDE under Examples/Analog/AnalogInput.
Note: Since the cut edges of the sensor are not sealed, moisture may enter the circuit board through the cut edge. To extend its lifespan, you should seal the cut edges with clear varnish or epoxy resin.
