pmd Technologies pmd 3D flexx2 development kit

The pmd 3D Sensing family offers the flexibility to equip the product with 3D vision. With the included software and tools that are sufficient from the start, it is ready for immediate use. If integration into the end product takes place, one benefits from the scalability of the 3D DevKits and the partner ecosystem of pmd 3D. It provides flexibility and reliability, utilizing high-quality depth data from Infineon's IRS2381C REAL3 ToF Image Sensor.

The flexx2 development kit is delivered with special software: "Royale." This makes it compatible with the previous pico flexx code. Royale supports common programming extensions such as Matlab, Open CV, and ROS 1+2.

Royale provides the following data:
• 3D point cloud: X, Y, and Z values
• Grayscale values: In addition to the Z value, each pixel is provided with a grayscale value representing the signal strength of the active illumination (IR grayscale image). This allows it to be used for standard 2D image processing and is perfectly aligned with the depth image. The 2D image is obtained under all lighting conditions, as it is not affected by background light.
• Confidence value: This indicates whether the pixel has measured a valid 3D value or whether the 3D data is unreliable due to saturation, underexposure, or similar reasons.
