The cable is the simplest way to connect to your microcontroller, Raspberry Pi, or WiFi router. Inside the large USB connector is a USB-to-serial conversion chip, and at the end of the 36-inch cable are four wires: red for power, black for ground, white for RX into the USB port, and green for TX out of the USB port. The power pin provides 5V at 500mA directly from the USB port, and the RX/TX pins are 3.3V pins for connection to the most common 3.3V logic level chipsets.
