Product details
Planet FT-80x is a Fast Ethernet bridge that converts 100BASE-FX fiber to 10/100BASE-TX shielded twisted pair (STP). It supports both half-duplex and full-duplex operations, along with a variety of fiber options. The converter automatically adapts to the highest performance level supported by the device connected to the STP port. When connected to a switch or workstation that supports full duplex, the converter operates in full-duplex mode, providing an effective 200 Mbps bandwidth. If connected to a hub or workstation that only supports half duplex, it adapts to half-duplex mode, offering a nominal 100 Mbps bandwidth. An override switch allows for manual control over the half/full-duplex operation in the fiber-optic interface.
The fiber port operates at 1310 nm and accommodates ST, SC, MTRJ, VF45, or WDM connectors. Multi-mode models support distances up to 2 km, while single-mode models support distances of 15, 20, 35, 50, or 60 km.
The FT-80x series features Link Fault Pass-through (LFP) functionality with a DIP switch design. LFP can immediately alert administrators to link media issues and provides an efficient solution for network monitoring. The DIP switch allows for enabling or disabling the LFP function.
Link Loss Carry Forward (LLCF) means that if a device connected to the converter loses the link on the twisted pair line, the converter will disconnect the transmit link on the fiber. Link Loss Return (LLR) indicates that if the fiber line loses the link, the converter will disconnect the transmit link. Both functions can promptly alert administrators to link media problems and offer effective solutions for network monitoring.
