Fiber Optic Cable Distance Extension

The PLANET FST-80x Smart Media Converter series offers media conversion between 10/100BASE-TX and 100BASE-FX interfaces, such as multi-mode ST/SC connectors (2 km), single-mode SC connectors (15/35/50 km), and single-fiber connectors using wavelength division multiplexing (WDM) technology (20/60 km), enabling the extension of connections over long distances with fiber optic cables.

Advanced Intelligent Management Features

The FST-80x series provides Auto MDI/MDI-X on its TP port and a store-and-forward mechanism to eliminate faulty packets. Use the DIP switch on the FST-80x to configure available intelligent features such as half/full duplex, auto-negotiation/force, and 10/100Mbps options for TP and fiber interfaces. Additionally, the Link Loss Return (LLR) and Link Loss Carry Forward (LLCF) features can immediately alert network administrators whenever there is a media link issue, helping to monitor the status of the entire network.

Easy Installation

The FST-80x series can be easily and cost-effectively connected, as these smart media converters can be used as a standalone unit powered by their DC adapter or as a plug-in module connected to the PLANET 19-inch, 16-slot Web Smart/Managed Media Converter chassis. When used with the Web Smart/Managed Media Converter chassis, the status of the FST-80x can be monitored through the local RS-232 console and the remote web interface.
