Principles of memory configuration:
The memory slots are organized in groups of 2.
The different groups of 2 slots do not need to have the same capacities.
Only the memory slots corresponding to the respective CPU can be used.

Memory configuration for good system performance:
Distribute the memory evenly across the memory slots and evenly across the CPUs. If more than one CPU is present, the memory should be identically configured (mirrored to the other CPU) per CPU.
