With this digital coolant refractometer, you can quickly and accurately measure the antifreeze content in your systems and machines. This handy refractometer is used in both industry and the automotive sector. Simply place a few drops of the liquid into the stainless steel sample well with the glass prism, close the lid, start the measurement, and read the result on the display. In the operating manual for the vehicle or system, you will find information on the mixing ratio of the antifreeze. This should be maintained not only in winter but throughout the year, as antifreeze also contains additives for corrosion protection and maintenance of the coolant circuit. Automotive workshops often check the mixing ratio by measuring the freezing point of the coolant. For many regions, a freezing temperature of -27°C for the coolant is recommended. Even in frost-free areas, the addition of antifreeze is necessary, as it not only lowers the freezing point of the coolant but also raises the boiling point. If you measure values that are outside the recommended range, you can remove some coolant and add either antifreeze or water as needed.
