Bookmark This kimono design from the Edo period (1615-1868) was used as a costume for the "Noh" theater style. Silk was dyed with a red color called "Beni" from the safflower and finished with gold lacquer. Kara-ori specifically refers to the beautifully embroidered traditional women's kimonos for which Noh theater was famous. Design: Kara-ori.
