Compared to non-self-shutting conventional starters, safety starters provide significant advantages:

• Automatic and reliable shutdown of defective or burnt-out fluorescent lamps. This prevents annoying flickering and eliminates unscheduled maintenance.
• Interruption circuit to protect the starter and ballast.
• Suitable for operation with both conventional (KVG) and low-loss (VVG) ballasts.
• Four times the service life compared to conventional starters.
• Immediate readiness for use of the system after interruption by simply pressing the red button.
• Switching lifespan: from at least 10,000 cycles up to at least 60,000 cycles in inductive operation. This results in a useful lifespan of approximately 2 to 10 years.
• Up to 20% longer lamp lifespan for fluorescent lamps.
