Noctua

Thanks to the slim NF-A12x15 PWM 120mm fan, the NH-L12S achieves even better silent cooling performance than its predecessor with the 92mm fan. At the same time, the NH-L12S is highly flexible: when the fan is mounted above the cooling fins, the cooler supports RAM modules with a height of up to 45mm. When the fan is mounted below, the total height is only 70mm, allowing the cooler to fit into many HTPC and small form factor cases. The overall high-quality package of the NH-L12S is rounded off by the professional SecuFirm2 multi-socket mounting system and Noctua's proven NT-H1 thermal paste - a premium solution for the highest demands in the low-profile segment.

Key specifications

Socket

A CPU socket or CPU slot is a mechanical component that provides mechanical and electrical connections between a microprocessor and a printed circuit board (PCB). This allows the CPU to be replaced without soldering.
Common sockets have retention clips that apply a constant force, which must be overcome when a device is inserted. For chips with a large number of pins, either zero-insertion force (ZIF) sockets or land grid array (LGA) sockets are used instead. These designs apply a compression force once either a handle (for ZIF type) or a surface plate (LGA type) is put into place. This provides superior mechanical retention while avoiding the risk of bending pins when inserting the chip into the socket.

Airflow

The air volume refers to the amount of air that can be moved or circulated per unit of time. It is often measured in cubic metres per hour or litres per second. A higher air volume generally indicates a stronger suction force or circulation of air.

When the fan is mounted below the cooling fins, the total height is only 70 mm, making the cooler ideal for compact cases.

Flexible chassis compatibility

The included SecuFirm2 mounting system supports numerous AMD and Intel sockets, such as AM5 or LGA 1700, for secure installation on the motherboard.

Broad socket compatibility

If the fan is installed above the cooling fins, memory modules with a height of up to 45 mm can be accommodated.
