This compact and robust electret microphone capsule consists of a conductive membrane that is only a few thousandths of a millimeter thick, which is electrically isolated and positioned close to a metal plate that is often perforated for acoustic reasons. Application areas include speech communication devices such as telephones, recorders, HiFi and announcement microphones, as well as for mobile use, such as in hearing aids.
