MOTU PCI Express 424

The new PCI slot: PCIx and PCIexpress. The Macintosh G5 includes significant enhancements in the PCI architecture, based on a 3.3 Volt card format. As a result, existing PCI-424 cards do not work in the new G5 PCI slots. MOTU developed a new PCI-424 card that is fully compatible with the G5 computer featuring PCIx slots. Additionally, MOTU has created the 424 PCIexpress card for the new Macintosh models G5 Dual, G5 Quad, and the new Mac Pro with PCIexpress slots.

The Apple G5 and Mac Pro systems support two independent PCI buses, allowing for optimal load distribution between high-speed graphics cards, other PCI cards, and the MOTU PCI-424 card. This ensures that the MOTU PCI-424 card receives the optimal bandwidth from the PCI bus to route and process a maximum number of audio tracks. The MOTU PCI card has always been designed to handle 48 simultaneous audio tracks at the highest quality of 192 kHz and 96 audio tracks at up to 96 kHz.
