Louis Poulsen PH 5 Pendant light Monochrome Pale Rose
E27Colour18
Product details
The pendant lamp emits glare-free, downward-directed light. At the same time, it illuminates its own frame, creating a soft, pleasant glow from its center. The PH 5 was designed by Poul Henningsen in 1958 as a response to the many changes that light bulb manufacturers were making to the shape and size of bulbs at that time. Henningsen considered these changes completely pointless. The PH 5 is suitable for all types of light sources and bathes its surroundings in a pleasant light. This made the PH 5 so famous that it became known as "the PH lamp," which still fits perfectly into modern-designed interiors today. Henningsen pursued a specific scientific approach to lighting and developed numerous lamps based on his three-shade system from 1925, which gives light a shape without causing glare. With the three-shade system based on the Lituus curve, he achieved an even light distribution that counteracted glare and shadowing. The numbers in the names of the PH lamps refer to the size of the shades. The upper shade of the PH 5 has a diameter of about 50 cm.
