Lightware LW20/C (100m)

General

The Lightware LW20 series describes extremely compact and lightweight 1D/2D LiDAR systems with a measurement range of 0.2 m - 50 m or 0.2 m - 100 m (depending on the version) with a low tolerance of only +/- 1 cm. Due to the high protection class of IP67 (dust and splash-proof), these LiDAR systems are ideally suited for use in UAVs (Unmanned Aerial Vehicles).

Difference between LW20 and SF20 series

The LW20 LiDAR differs from the SF20 series only in terms of protection class. The SF20 has no protection classes or IP standards, making it highly suitable for OEM applications due to its low weight of just 10 g.

Dimensions

Due to its extremely small dimensions of only 35 x 30.2 x 19.5 mm, this LiDAR can fit into nearly any application.

Communication and Configuration

The LW20/SF20 features both a 3.3 V UART and an I2C bus, allowing it to be integrated into QGroundControl or Mission Planner in no time and configured and used with a computer via an FTDI converter. In the graphical Lightware interface, it is possible to make various configurations in addition to basic settings such as baud rate, interface, etc.:

• Laser - Distance measurement, communication, and encoding
• Servo - Use of a PWM servo to create a 270° 2D LiDAR
• Sweep - Defines the software limitation of the scans
• Alarm - 2D Alarm (Obstacle Avoidance)
