A real surprise: the USB flash drives tested are significantly faster. The test winner among the 1-terabyte models, the Xlyne Ultra Fast Flash Drive (105 euros), is particularly fast, managing up to 2 gigabytes per second. The other sticks cannot keep up with this, not even the test winner in the 2-terabyte models...

- Good 10 Gbit/s performance for light tasks
- Affordable
- Clever, hinged USB-A design
- Slows down drastically during very long write operations
- Cheap plastic feel
If the price is right, the Kingston Datatraveler Max easily fulfils the requirements of most users. I can therefore recommend the USB stick without reservation for relatively light tasks. I also like the way the cover snaps into place. However, if you are looking for a stick that is fast for really large files, you should look for a different model.
- Very good price-performance ratio
- Very high data rate
- Not suitable for iPads with protective cover
- Plastic housing
The largest USB-C stick in terms of storage size and housing size is the Datatraveler Max from Kingston. Compatible with the USB 3.2 Gen 2 standard, the Datatraveler Max is more akin to an SSD drive than a USB stick. Kingston promises an unprecedented speed of 1,000 MB/s read and 900 MB/s write for a USB stick...
- Very good performance (writing and reading)
- low weight
- handy slider
- fair price
- Aluminium housing would be better
- High heat generation under load
