Instead of the usual tweeter with 3D imaging waveguides, a coaxial mid-high combination has been used here. The profile-optimized 4" midrange driver also functions as a waveguide. By limiting the peak displacement to 1 mm, intermodulation distortions that typically occur in coaxial systems have been avoided. The midrange driver also relieves the woofer and tweeter, allowing the IN-8 to sound overall more harmonious and distortion-free than conventional 2-way studio monitors. The crossover frequency of the woofer is set at 330 Hz, making the IN-8 an acoustic point source. Phase cancellations along the vertical axis will be hard to find here. Instead, the IN-8 features a uniform radiation pattern across the entire frequency range with excellent depth staging and localization. The stereo image also benefits from the coaxial arrangement, allowing for a detailed mix. Thanks to the "Boundary EQ" known from the LP series, the IN-8 can be easily adapted to various studio environments just like its sister models.
