Teensy 4.0 provides support for dynamic clock scaling. Unlike other microcontrollers where changing the clock frequency causes incorrect baud rates and other problems, the Teensy 4.0 hardware and Teensyduino's software support for Arduino timing functions are designed to allow dynamic speed changes. Serial baud rates, audio streaming sample rates and Arduino functions such as delay() and millis() as well as Teensyduino extensions such as IntervalTimer and elapsedMillis will still work correctly when the CPU changes speed. Teensy 4.0 also offers a function for switching off the power supply. By connecting a push button to the On/Off pin, the 3.3V supply can be switched off completely by holding the button for 5 seconds and switched on again by briefly pressing the button. If a button cell is connected to VBAT, the RTC of the Teensy 4.0 continues to keep track of the date and time even when the device is switched off
