2-way convertible component/coaxial system: 6.5-inch (165 mm) woofer, 1-inch (25 mm) silk dome tweeter. There are situations where an installation requires a separate woofer and tweeter, and others where a coaxial system is the better choice. With the Evolution C3 convertible component systems, the same product can be used in both configurations, delivering outstanding audio performance and quality in each application. The C3-650 system features 6.5-inch (165 mm) component woofers with oversized 1.2-inch (30.5 mm) voice coils, mineral-filled polypropylene cones, and injection-molded polymer baskets. The woofer design benefits from JL Audio's extensive experience in woofer design and advanced modeling systems. The C3 tweeters are equipped with 1-inch silk domes that provide powerful, extended playback both on and off-axis. Flush mount and surface mount hardware are included to meet a variety of installation requirements. They can also be mounted in a coaxial format on the woofers using the supplied hardware. The C3 crossover networks are compact and equipped with high-quality components, including Mylar capacitors and segmented air core inductors. Four levels of tweeter attenuation and three levels of midrange presence adjustment offer twelve possible tuning combinations. Woofer grilles are included, consisting of a black grille tray and a black steel grille with an electroformed JL Audio logo.
