JDS Labs Element IV

The JDS Labs Element IV is a comprehensive headphone amplifier and digital-to-analog converter system designed for high-quality audio playback. This successor model to earlier Element versions features a completely redesigned construction with third-generation XMOS hardware and a precise optical encoder that ensures perfect channel separation up to the noise floor. The automatic gain adjustment eliminates the need for manual switching between different audio sources, while the clear, automatically dimming display shows essential information when users switch between USB and optical inputs or headphone and preamp outputs. The device seamlessly integrates with Core, the JDS Labs web application, allowing for intuitive adjustment of the 12-band parametric equalizer settings and other parameters. All adjustments are saved directly on the device, preserving profiles and presets across different environments, computers, or gaming consoles. Measuring 127 mm in width, 76 mm in depth, and 38 mm in height, with a weight of 680 g, the Element IV features a durable aluminum construction in a matte black finish. Developed and manufactured in the United States, this amplifier-DAC combination offers precise audio technology with ease of use and supports high-impedance headphones up to 600 ohms with minimal distortion. The device operates within a temperature range of 0°C to 40°C and includes both a 6.35 mm headphone output and RCA preamp outputs for integration into speaker systems. The power consumption is a maximum of 15 W during operation, with the device automatically switching to a power-saving mode when not actively in use.
