The Slate is designed for creatives, illustrators, and artists, as well as for pen and paper enthusiasts who do not want to miss the natural and unparalleled feeling of a pen gliding over paper. At the same time, they benefit from the endless possibilities of digital technology. Their drawings are instantly displayed on the screen of their mobile device or computer through a simple ring.

The Slate is built for maximum mobility. Its A5 format makes it lightweight and compact, allowing you to take it anywhere. The Slate can be used in two ways: with a screen by connecting it to your device (via Bluetooth with iPad and iPhone, with USB cable for Mac and PC) or in screenless mode, thanks to its built-in battery that allows for up to 7 hours of uninterrupted use. All drawings are automatically saved in the internal memory of 4 GB (over 400,000 images).

The technology inside the Slate is based on 22 patents and more than 70 years of research and expertise in magnetism from the Commissariat à l'énergie atomique (CEA). We harness this technology and place it in your hands as an artist, allowing you to interact with the digital world while using your favorite tools – your own pens. In 2016, the CEA was ranked by Reuters as the world's most innovative research institution.

You draw on paper placed on the Slate, using your own pens equipped with a magnetic ring. As soon as you start drawing, 32 sensors capture the exact position of your pen with the ring. The Slate communicates with your device and generates an authentic copy of your drawing in real-time.
