Iqunix F97 Variable X

The Iqunix F97 is a compact full-size keyboard with a 96% layout, eliminating the gaps between the keys and the less frequently used keys. While the rest of the mechanical keyboard world seems to be shrinking, the F97 from Iqunix is here to remind us that full-sized layouts can also be outstanding. The casing of the F97 is made of aluminum, giving it a pleasant weight that feels premium in hand.

The F97 is the successor to the popular F96 keyboard and follows in its footsteps. The differences between these models are more than just superficial; the RGB lighting is much brighter and more vibrant. Additionally, the F97 features a completely new damping concept. Under the keys, the Iqunix F97 uses two layers of foam and silicone rings to dampen typing noise while enhancing the sound of the switches.

Iqunix has added new switch options from TTC, including Gold Pink and Speed Silver, as well as the usual Cherry MX Silent Red. The excellent TTC switches are all linear and factory-lubricated to increase smoothness and eliminate scratchiness and spring ping.

The typing experience on the F97 is one of the best available on a pre-built keyboard. The resonances while typing have been dampened, but not excessively, allowing the individual characteristics of each switch to shine through. The Costar stabilizers are generously factory-lubricated, eliminating any rattling or ticking.
